ABOUT US

Mission Statement

To promote and nurture the health, education, and competitive spirit of residents of California by managing a quality amateur sports event that encourages participation and provides an Olympic experience.

California State Games (CSG) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and the largest amateur sports festival in the state. As a community-based member of the United States Olympic Committee, we have hosted our Olympic-style event since 1988.

The California State Games includes 24 sports competitions in San Diego on July 17-21, 2024. The highlight of the event is Opening Ceremonies at Pechanga Sports Arena with an athlete parade, Lighting of the Cauldron, and fireworks. The California Winter Games are also held in San Diego in February and March with five participating sports.

The California State Games is thrilled to host the State Games of America in July 2024. Run in tandem with the annual California State Games, the State Games of America is a biennial Olympic-style event featuring competition between State Games medal winners (gold, silver, bronze) from across the nation.

California athletes will be able to compete alongside State Games medal winners as a part of their annual California State Games. Like every year, we welcome all California athletes to compete in their respective sports in Summer 2024 and get the unique experience of a national event.

Our vision is to increase participation in amateur sports and improve the skill levels of all amateur athletes in California by including athletes from all communities and regions in the California State Games and our regional events.

California is one of 29 states that conduct similar types of statewide competitions through the National Congress of State Games
